The Top Three Benefits of Having a Home Intercom System

Monitoring System

Today’s home intercom systems are incredibly more useful than they were just ten years ago, thanks to advances in home automation. These systems are now available with a wide range of options, from simple to complex. In my opinion, a home intercom system is well worth the money, whether you choose a wired or wireless option.

Here are the top three benefits of having a home intercom system in your house:

Security

This is probably the biggest and most obvious benefit. A home intercom system takes your security to a new level. You can connect your system to your doorbell, so you can screen and always know who is at the door before you answer. Thanks to the intercom system, you can easily speak to someone outside and know who it is before you open your door or front gate. Through video functions, you’ll always know what is going on in your house, whether you want to check on the kid’s room or simply want the peace of mind knowing your house is safe when you are away. And many intercom systems connect with your home alarm system, so the two are integrated.

Monitoring

Similar to security, with the video function of an intercom system, you always know what is going on in your home at anytime. Wherever you set up stations for the intercom, you can check on that area, such as a young child’s room, the garage, the front entry of your home, and other spots. Many systems now have high quality color video, so you can easily see what is going on.

Comfort & Convenience

Okay, we all get lazy sometimes. With an intercom system, you don’t have to run up the stairs or scream at the top of your lungs to call the kids down to dinner. Instead, you can press a button and communicate to them in their room through the intercom. This is particularly ideal for large homes, homes with a lot of kids, elderly people, and those with a disability. And when the doorbell rings, you don’t have to get up to see who it is. You can sit back, relax, and look through the video to see if it’s someone worth talking to, such as the UPS guy or that annoying neighbor. This may sound silly, but remember – the whole point of home automation and smart technology is to make your life simpler.
