You might be difficult to shop for. Or maybe your kids just didn’t try very hard. Maybe you wanted to collect a bunch of small gift cards so that you could make one big purchase. Either way, this Father’s Day you ended up with gift cards, and now you need to find a way to spend them. Here are a few gadgets you can add to your smart home, courtesy of those Father’s Day gift cards:

Smart Coffee Maker

The perfect way to start any day is with a smart coffee maker. Or, at least, not having good coffee is a way to ensure a bad day. Smart coffee machine work remotely with apps, let you know when a good cleaning is in order, and adjust brewing schedules when you’re on the go.

Smart Thermostat

Smart thermostats are one of the oldest smart home products on the market, but that doesn’t mean that everyone already owns one. If you’re one of those that doesn’t – what are you waiting for? These nifty devices allow remote control of your home’s temperature, as well as automatic adjustments based on personal preference and some great energy-saving settings.

Smart BBQ Grills

If you’ve been saving those gift cards for a loooooong time – or just have a really generous family – you could opt to purchase a smart BBQ grill. That’s right, nothing is safe from smart technology these days. Smart BBQ grills have voice-activation and smart device control options.

Smart Meat Thermometer

Can’t afford a full on smart grill? All is not lost. Instead, you can just get a smart meat thermometer. These things work in tandem with an app on your phone, and allow you to pre-set the type and cut of the meat you are cooking. With the smart thermometer in the meat, you cook it and will be alerted when it has reached perfection.

Smart Home Assistant

All that cooking will be boring without some entertainment from a smart home assistant. If you want one now, you can choose between the Google Home and the Amazon Echo – both of which have many of the same features to manage your smart home and entertain you and your family. If you can wait for a bit, the Apple HomePod is due out at the end of the year.

Smart Cocktail Mixer

While beer is always a great option, sometimes you want to ‘mix’ things up with a cocktail. A smart cocktail mixer has a ton of drinks programmed, and will tell you exactly how much of each ingredient to use. It’s based on a scale, so it will know if you over pour, and will correct your mixture.

Smart Toothbrush

Before heading to bed, don’t forget to clean the BBQ and alcohol from your mouth. With a smart toothbrush, you can get critiques on your brushing habits, and a few tips and pointers on how you can improve. Wait, that sounds like nagging. Never mind, skip this one.
